Silangit International Airport

Sisingamangaraja International Airport XII (English: Sisingamangaraja XII International Airport) (IATA: DTB, ICAO: WIMN), formerly Silangit International Airport, is an airport located in Siborong-borong, North Tapanuli, North Sumatra. This airport has a runway size of 2,400 m x 30 m. The distance from the city center is around 7 km.

Silangit Airport was built during the Japanese occupation. The rebuilding of the airport began in 1995 by adding runways along 900 meters to 1,400 meters. In March 2005, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated the operation of Silangit Airport directly, since then airport construction began to be carried out intensively. In 2011, Silangit Airport finally had a runway of 2,400 meters and it was planned that in 2015 it would be extended back to 3800 by 45 meters (12467 ft × 148 ft), so that it could land wide-body aircraft on a regular basis. On January 18, 2011, Silangit Airport was visited by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and his entourage who used Boeing 737-500 aircraft. With the President's arrival, it was stated that Silangit Airport was able to serve aircraft in the class of A320, A320neo, A330, & B737 Next Generation, & MAX.

Current Terminal Area = 100 m2 (Terminal A) & 700 m2 (Terminal B), Navigation Facilities = NDB, AFIS, PAPI & DVOR / DME, Aviation Security Facilities = X-Ray Baggage, X-Ray Cabin, Metal Walk-through Detector & Handheld Metal Detector, Aviation Safety Facility = PKP-PK Type V, Gunebo & Ambulance, Electricity Facilities = 25 & 125 KVA Generator, Airfield Lighting System (AFL), Apron Light & Apron Flood Light, Terminal Facility = Belt Conveyor, Digital Scales, Running Text, LCD Information, Equipment Facilities = Wheel Tractor Rotary Mower, Hand Mower,.

With its facilities and service capabilities, Silangit Airport is currently the only class IV airport that has facilities and capabilities equivalent to Class II airports in Indonesia. On December 14, 2012, the Government through the Ministry of Transportation officially handed over the operation of Silangit Airport management to PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). Thus, the status of this airport automatically changes from the UPT airport to a commercial airport.

As the 13th Airport PT. Angkasa Pura II (Persero), improvement of customer facilities continues to date, renovation of toilets to fulfill standards of champion toilets, renovation of mosque and proper ablution place, making Kid Zone, procuring Free Charging, strengthening wifi signal, repairing check-in counter area and Improving the Nursery Room, is part of the improvement.

Silangit Airport is also working on the perfection of Occupational Health and Safety Management, in order to realize the zero incident program, the zero accident & zero workplace accident.

Currently Silangit flights are served by Wings Air operators for Batam - Silangit, and Susi Air Routes for Medan - Silangit and Gunung Sitoli Routes - SIlangit. The Jakarta-Silangit direct flight program continues to be optimally pursued through improving flight safety and security facilities.

The progress of passengers to and from SIlangit Airport reaches an average of 100% every year. This year passengers from and to SIlangit Airport are targeted to reach 25,000 pax, an increase of 120% compared to the previous year which reached 12,009 pax.

Silangit Airport is also being prepared to serve increasing tourists to Lake Toba and other Tapanuli areas.
