PT Angkasa Pura II's Managing Director, Muhammad Awaluddin, said that the use of the Solar Power Plant is a step the corporation participates in protecting the environment. "As well as becoming an Eco Friendly Airport by using new and renewable alternative energy sources in addition to fossil fuel," Awaluddin said in a written statement, Friday, September 7, 2018.

As a pilot project, Awaluddin said, in the implementation of the Eco Friendly Airport PT Angkasa Pura II also used technology with alternative energy sources such as the use of solar panels for street lighting and later it would use electric buses for the airport operations of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero).

Awaluddin said that the company is trying to implement environmentally friendly airport operations. Because, PT Angkasa Pura II is bound by world emission standard regulations in airport management, and seeks to implement airport operations that are environmentally friendly.

"For that we also use electric cars on the operational side of groundhandling as a form of corporate participation in maintaining the environment," he said.

One of the ways to realize this alternative energy source is by implementing a cooperation plan with PT Bukit Asam. PT Angkasa Pura II synergized and PT Bukit Asam (Tbk) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Solar Power Plants (PLTS).

The MoU was signed at PT Angkasa Pura II's head office located at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Thursday 6 September 2018, PT Angkasa Pura II's Director of Engineering and Operation Djoko Murjatmodjo and PT Bukit Asam (Tbk) were represented by Director of Business Development, Fuad I.Z. Djoko said that alternative and renewable energy is needed by the company to support the use of very large PLN electricity. "By looking at the high impact of electricity usage, then if there is an electricity source that is cheaper than PLN, it can be considered to use alternative electricity in achieving airport operating efficiency," Djoko said.
