Airport Flyover After One Year of Operation

05 Dec 2018

KOMPAS.com - Not felt, the elevated train Soekarno-Hatta International Airport or commonly called skytrain has been operating for approximately one year. Since it was first run in September 2017, the skytrain facility has continued to be improved. This year, the trainset facilities are also added. Through a written report, Angkasa Pura II informed him about this. Now, the facility that connects the airport train with Terminals 1, 2 and 3 has a carrying capacity of up to 352 passengers from the previous 176 people once transported. President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin, said that the addition of trains would be according to the target of companies that want to increase the carrying capacity of the skytrain. This is based on the need at the airport to transport passengers, both domestic and international. "In accordance with our initial target, we will add this skytrain in mid-August 2018. Furthermore, our target is to operate a full OCC Operation Command Center (OCC) to accelerate the headway of skytrain", Awaluddin said. At present, one of the enhancements is the airport skytrain operating system has the ability to run a maximum speed of 30 kilometers per hour with a waiting time or headway from 15 minutes to 5 minutes. The trainset facilities are a minimum of 3.

The need for the time needed to lower and raise passengers is only 1 minute. The plan will begin in early 2019. "We continue to improve services by always being accompanied by periodic reviews and evaluations for the safety and comfort of passengers," Awaluddin said. Passenger safety is PT Angkasa Pura II's top priority. With the increased capacity and travel time, they hope passengers can be more comfortable feeling the services of these facilities. Please note, skytrain is an unmanned mode of transportation using the first guideway transit system in Indonesia. At present, Skytrain has operated with dual tracks on a 3 kilometer track. In the future, the skytrain track will also be extended to terminal 4, and also the commercial area at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
