AP II Prepares Soekarno-Hatta Terminal 2F to Become a Low Cost Terminal

26 Mar 2019 - As a form of commitment to increase tourism in Indonesia, the operator of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, namely PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is preparing Terminal 2F to be a low cost carrier (LCC). Preparations to make Terminal 2F as a terminal that offers lower tariff terms than with other terminals at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have received a positive response from the Ministry of BUMN, Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Tourism.

"Today we (Kemenpar and AP II) discuss that we will formally operate Terminal 2F as LCCT on 1 May. "In accordance with the directives of the President (Joko Widodo) who were then instructed through the Minister of BUMN, Minister of Transportation and Minister of Tourism," said PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) President Director Muhammad Awaluddin in his statement, Tuesday (26/3).

The strategy of making Terminal 2F as an LCC so that the segmentation of each terminal is different. Especially at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport which has Terminals 1, 2, 3 and soon there will be Terminal 4.

"In addition, a special Umrah terminal will be built, so there needs to be segmentation of each terminal. We have reported to the minister of transportation and the response is positive, "Awaluddin explained.

He also emphasized that AP II had presented the Terminal 2f of Soekarno-Hatta Airport to the Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya. According to Awaluddin, asking for places to support Indonesian tourism is reproduced.

"Technically, Pak Menpar asked for the allocation of parking stands and contact booths for the special airline LCC to request an increase from the current one. Because it is for supporting tourism that is one of those who adds to the volume of inbound traffic or foreign tourist arrivals from LCCT, "he explained.

Other technical things that are prioritized are simple, uninterrupted services. Because, LCC passengers are mostly a budget traveler, which in terms of time, cost, convenience, especially requires speed up to the destination. Digitizing-based services are very helpful, in addition to the service concept based on self service.

"In addition, from the air side, the LCC ground time is different from the full service carrier. If the LCC is at most one hour, there is very little ground time, "said Awaluddin.

"It is also possible for airline fares not to be flat. Will be tariff differentiation, meaning that it can be dynamic. For example, for airlines that take off or take off at night, it will be very different if they take off or landing at night. Why? right if at night the traffic occupancy is down. So we can also optimize or reduce the increase in our production equipment that was previously idle, "he said.

Meanwhile, the Senior Manager of Branch Communication and Legal, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Febri Toga Simatupang added, currently, the flow of domestic and international departures for the LCC terminal is under construction. Starting from the Immigration counter, arrival flow, Fish Quarantine Room, Aviation Secutity room, custom room, Animal and Plant Quarantine room, ground handling office and custom K9, as well as carpet installation at the terminal.

"For information, Terminal 2 consists of three sub terminals, namely D, E and F. 2D terminal becomes a domestic terminal. While the 2E terminal is partly a domestic terminal and partially LCC with Terminal 2F, "Febri said.

At this LCC Terminal, there will be 10 airlines operating. In the near future, there will be two more airlines joining, namely Indigo from India and Zandong from China.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya conveyed his arrival to the Airport Operation Control Center or AOCC building in order to prepare air access to reach the target of 20 million foreign tourists. "Especially the preparation to operate the LCCT, because without LCCT it is difficult to achieve this target. To note the growth of LCC in the world reached 20 percent. Whereas the full service carrier is only 5 percent. We start from Terminal 2F at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. It is expected that in May it will be fully operational, "he said.
