Mudik Season, AP II Has Thermal Camera Prevent Disease Spread

04 Jun 2019

Jakarta - The surge in travelers at the airport adds to the possibility of the spread of diseases carried by passengers, especially from abroad. However, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is already on standby by providing thermal cameras at the airport.

"We are working with the Port Health Office, they have a thermal camera," AP II Vice President of Corporate Communication, Yado Yarismano, told AFP on Friday (05/31/2019).

He explained the placement of the thermal camera specifically at the door of international arrivals to monitor live monitors of aircraft passengers who came from outside.

"When it is indicated that if someone gets pox (chickenpox), they might have a fever, from the thermal camera, it seems that the person whose body heat is not normal is visible," he explained.
From that stage the officers at the Port Health Office will be able to do screening based on body temperature. According to him the next examination was intended to take further action.

"They are sorted and checked, they can have the common cold. If it is indicated, they will take direct action," he said.

Yado also mentioned that this special homecoming season AP II also cooperates with the Ministry of Health in homecoming services at the airport. Special health facilities are also provided at the post for going home, which at Soekarno Hatta Airport is in Terminal 1B.

"If there is a special medical post in the post, so indeed the Lebaran transport post next to it is a post for medical purposes, because this yesterday had an indication related to the monkey smallpox virus," he explained.

In addition to thermal cameras, of course, all AP II airports are equipped with CCTV. Yado revealed that there are even around 3,000 CCTVs in all AP II airports, of which 2,000 are at Soekarno Hatta Airport.

"Our CCTV is more or less the entire airport, which is 3,000, but specifically in Soekarno Hatta it is almost 2,000 and it is monitored in an integrated manner at the AOCC (Airport Operation Control Center)," he concluded.
