Aircraft Calibration Arrives Seamlessly, Third Runway of Soetta Airport Ready to Operate

TANGERANG ( - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi reviewed the third runway project at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta) on Sunday (07/21/2019).

On that occasion, the minister directly witnessed the landing of a calibration aircraft to test the physical readiness of the runway.

Accompanied by Director General of Air Transportation, Polana B Pramesti and President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin, Budi Karya, confirmed that the success of the calibration aircraft landed indicated that the third runway was ready to be operated.

Budi Karya said that the readiness of the third runway at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will be reported to President Joko Widodo so that it can be used immediately, in accordance with his direction on the President's working visit on 21 June 2019 ago.

"How excited we are in Indonesia, Angkasa Pura II can provide a third runway facility. It is indeed expected by the President to be used immediately, "explained the Minister of Transportation.

The former Managing Director of PT Angkasa Pura II confirmed that the third 2,500-meter runway was physically and technically usable now, but still requested that the Directorate General of Air Transportation, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) and AirNav Indonesia be able to finalize coordination and procedures especially first.

If all preparations are done, the Minister of Transportation said the third runway will officially begin operations in August 2019. "Commemorating August 17. Now it can, but all that needs to be prepared. This is a gift for RI independence, "said the Minister of Transportation.
