15 Aug 2019

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura II stated that Runway 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has been landed by the first commercial aircraft, namely NAM Air from Pontianak with flight number IN 181 using Boeing 737-500 on Thursday (8/15/3029) ) at 09.20 WIB.

PH SVP of Corporate Secretary of Angkasa Pura II, Achmad Rifai, said that flight flights with PK-NAO registration were manned by Capt. Hendra Jusak Jacobus (Instructor) and Capt. Hendaryanto along with First Officer Ferry Firmansyah, and also 4 cabin crews carrying a total of 118 passengers.

"Today [Thursday] is part of the history of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. "For the first time runway 3 was landed with commercial aircraft after obtaining licensing recommendations from the Ministry of Transportation," he said in a press release on Thursday (08/15/2019).

He added that runway 3 operations made flight capacity at Soekarno-Hatta Airport increase to 114 flights per hour. At present, the runway dimension has a length of 2,500 meters and will be extended to 3,000 meters.

Meanwhile, the runway 3 project requires 216 hectares of land to build a runway. Of the total land requirements, AP II previously had 49 hectares and the rest went through the land acquisition process.

AP II hopes that with the increased aircraft movement, it can increase the number of passengers. It is expected that the number of passengers can reach 100 million per year, or the equivalent of airports in Beijing, China and Atlanta, United States.

At present, said, the number of passengers of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport is only around 60-70 million passengers per year.
