Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya checked the electric taxis that were available at Soekarno Hatta Airport. The presence of an electric taxi service at this airport is the first in Asia.

"This is the first in Asia at the airport there is an electric car. So zero emission does not contribute to CO2," said Managing Director of Blue Bird Noni Purnomo who was accompanied by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya on Sunday (09/08/2019) at Soekarno Hatta.

At present Blue Bird is still doing a pilot project with 25 BYB and four Tesla. The fare is the same as ordinary taxis.

Budi Karya also expressed his appreciation to Bluebird and AP II for realizing this project. E-Taxi (electric taxi) is expected to help reduce pollution in Jakarta.

"This is an effort that is not easy because the use of these taxis has special efforts and this is part of the R&D process from Bluebird dedicated to Indonesia," Budi Karya said.

At the moment there is only one Bluebird e-Taxi charging station at the airport, but Bluebird has prepared many chargers at their bases. It takes two hours to charge up to 100 percent of BYD electric cars.

Going forward, Noni promised to operate an electric taxi for the airport that invites Bluebird.

"This is a pilot project. Later after the pilot is finished we will expand to other airports that invite us for this service," Noni promised.

Bluebird launches 25 units of BYD e6 A / T electric cars and 4 units of the Tesla Model X 75D A / T.

The launch was inaugurated by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan and Head of the Creative Economy Agency Triawan Munaf at Bluebird Headquarters, Monday (4/22/2019).

Luhut said the government supports Bluebird's efforts as a provider of authentic Indonesian taxis that innovates for the environment while improving service quality and comfort for customers.

"All efforts of the nation's children aimed at boasting Indonesia must always be supported by us, including from Bluebird," he said in Jakarta, Monday (4/22/2019).

Electric car that is launched staying will help green the environment. Director of PT Blue Bird, Tbk Andrianto Djokosoetono said the operation of this electric car could provide added value in other sectors.

"Sustainability is the business focus of Bluebird. The operation of e-taxi is in addition to supporting environmental preservation, it also supports the national energy mix and resilience program, the program to reduce the use and subsidies of BBM and the exhaust gas emission reduction program implemented by the government," he said.
