WE Online, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) related to plans to develop a number of airports in Indonesia.
The signing of the MoU was carried out directly by the Managing Director of Angkasa Pura (AP) II Muhammad Awaluddin and Regional Vice President of Asia Pacific IATA Conrad Clifford.
This MoU is the first step of cooperation between the two parties, namely AP II as the manager of 19 airports in Indonesia and IATA as representative associations of airlines throughout the world.
Muhammad Awaluddin said the collaboration between AP II and IATA was expected to be able to broadly develop the national airport and aviation sector.
"We hope that collaboration between airport operators and airline representatives in the world will also increase the level of the national aviation industry on a global scale," Awaluddin explained in a statement obtained on Thursday (11/14/2019).
"This MoU is also an implementation of the Go Global Partnership program launched by AP II in 2019. We want to partner with institutions that already have big names in the world. Our target, AP II can expand markets at the global level, not only to be the best in Indonesia , "he added.
Through this newly signed MoU, AP II and IATA agreed to discuss five matters to improve services at airports under AP II.
First, consultancy services and infrastructure planning to continue efforts to improve safety and efficiency in airport services and operations. Then, consulting services for economic studies of infrastructure costs and related cost reduction strategies.
Furthermore, services for financial products and processes are agreed upon. Fourth, training is related to strategies to improve the quality and capability of human resources. Finally, a service providing market intelligence data for air traffic.
"We believe that IATA can support AP II in achieving its vision of being the Best Smart-Connected Airport Operator in the Region. Moreover, we are exploring markets in Africa and Thailand," Awaluddin said.
