Liputan6.com, Jakarta - Before the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, did a ramp check at Terminal 3, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang City, Wednesday (11/12/2019).

Budi Karya also briefly checked the feasibility and oxygen stock in the aircraft cabin. Menhub Budi Karya tried to wear an oxygen mask in the aircraft cabin for five minutes, which turned out to be very good.

"Ramp check so far there is no meaningful discovery, it is very good. We have to confirm this, because the aviation industry is very vulnerable. And in this check we check specifically the speed and balance of the aircraft," he said at Terminal 3 VIP Building, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Hatta, Tangerang City.

At least, there were 50 aircraft at 32 points that were randomly checked ramp. The Minister of Transportation also targets that by 20 December 200 aircraft will have been checked, "he said.

Even so, he wants and has ordered each airline, to do their own ramp check. According to him, this must be done in accordance with the SOP (Standard Operational Procedures) established by the Airport Authority and should be done well.

In addition to checking aircraft, the Minister of Transportation also asked airport managers to always check land transportation, such as inter-city and provincial buses, which take passengers after long trips by plane.

"The airport manager must also do transportation security activities well, such as checking buses, because with this mass activity, we must not be negligent, it can be fatal," he said. (Pramita Tristiawati)
