Welcoming 2018 Asian Games, Angkasa Pura II Invites Banyuwangi Funwalk Residents

Banyuwangi - Angkasa Pura II also enlivened the 2018 Asian Games grand event in Banyuwangi Regency. Today (22/7) the series of events of the Torch Games Asian Games passes through Banyuwangi. The eternal fire taken from India crossed the Banyuwangi protocol road and stopped at the Banyuwangi Regency Hall.

Also enlivening the event, AP II held a funwalk event which was attended by more than 1000 participants from the general public and students.

The President Director of Angkasa Pura II, Muhammad Awaluddin explained that this activity is one form of AP II support to enliven the 2018 Asian Games event which will be held in mid-August 2018. Awaluddin explained, "The Relay Torch series has arrived in Indonesia, and arrived in Banyuwangi. 2018 Asian Games official supplier, we are very enthusiastic to participate in enlivening the second largest sporting event in the world.In addition, as the manager of Banyuwangi Airport, we are together with the Banyuwangi Regency Government to invite local residents to feel this euphoria by participating in Funwalk Road To Asian Games 2018 ".

Besides that, this activity also became an arena for the introduction of the local wisdom of Banyuwangi Regency. Angkasa Pura II collaborates with the Banyuwangi District Government to provide UMKM booths. No fewer than 20 MSMEs provide traditional banyuwangi traditional foods, batik handicrafts, and Banyuwangi specialty coffee.

The Banyuwangi Regent, Abdullah Azwar Anas, also expressed his support for the event initiated together with AP II. This is a positive synergy between AP II and the Banyuwangi Regency Government. Anas conveyed, "We thank AP II because with the holding of this event, the name Banyuwangi is increasingly being heard in many places. In addition, airport development is continuing and the results can be felt with the increasing number of flights to Banyuwangi. We hope this synergy will continue positively" , he said.

The growth of passenger traffic in Banyuwangi Airport up to June 2018 reached 160,000 passengers, an increase of around 170% compared to 2017 with 63,000. For the movement of the aircraft up to June 2018 it reached 2235 aircraft movements or an increase of about 87% compared to 2017, namely 1106 aircraft movements. With the development on the air side and cooperation with airlines, the target of 300,000 passenger movements in 2018 can be exceeded.
