TANGERANG - In order to provide maximum service for all airport service users, from airlines to passengers, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) is building several air-side capacity building projects at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport including building a north and south runway lane in East side or East cross taxiway, Construction of the third runway and construction of apron and taxiway for Cargo Village.

As of April 2018, the construction of East Cross Taxiway Phase I has now reached 15.3%, which is projected to be carried out in April 2019. The East cross taxiway will accelerate air movement both when the aircraft takes off and the plane lands where the Airport is currently Soekarno-Hatta International has reached 81 aircraft movements per hour and will be able to reach 86 aircraft movements per hour.

The company will also construct a third runway with an investment of Rp 2.6 trillion, which is a strategic step to increase aircraft movements to reach 114 movements per hour, and to accommodate the increase in the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport which is predicted to reach above 100 million passengers in 2025.

PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) 's President Director Muhammad Awaluddin stated that "With the construction of the third runway, we will get a much higher aircraft movement advantage, reaching 114 hourly take - off and landing movements. This will certainly be supported by the East cross Taxiways where aircraft movements between the northern runway and the south runway are more efficient ".

The construction of the third runway at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport requires a land area of ​​216 hectares. As of April 2018, PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) already owns 115 hectares of land, so 101 hectares of land are still needed, which is planned to be released in September 2018. The acquired land covers Tangerang City, namely Selapajang Jaya Village and Benda Village, and Tangerang Regency, namely Bojong Renged Village, Rawa Burung Village and Rawa Rengas Village.

Other service improvements were also carried out by PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero), namely by building Cargo Village Phase I where the progress of the work of the apron and taxiway parts has reached 78.24%. The construction of the apron will have the capacity to accommodate up to eight wide-body aircraft such as Airbus A380 and Boeing 777. The work of the Cargo Village Phase I apron and taxiway is targeted to operate as a whole in June 2018.

The overall development on the air side is nothing but the company's efforts to make Soekarno-Hatta International Airport competitive among other world-class airports and also to anticipate the growth of aircraft passengers in the future.
