PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Targets 1 Million Aircraft Movements

26 Mar 2018

As a tangible manifestation of efforts to strengthen the synergy between business partners, as well as one of the achievements of the company's target in 2018 to reach 1 million aircraft movements in all airports managed by AP II, in connection with this AP II organizes Airlines activities, Airport-Airnav Authority Gathering on the 23rd -24 March 2018.

Located in Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands Province, AP II invited local governments, regulators, domestic and international airlines, and flight navigation service providers. This step is important to do to spur an increase in the number of aircraft movements, both for domestic and international routes so as to have a positive impact on all parties.

This activity is also used as a venue to capture and expand the company's business opportunities by maximizing water slot time which has an impact on the number of aircraft movements. This is also in line with the target of increasing the FTA (foreign tourist arrival) which in 2018 is targeted to reach 4 million foreign tourists.

In line with the targets announced by the Government, the management of AP II has implemented a number of programs to support airport management and service maximization. The airport developments that have been carried out include revitalization of Terminals 1 and 2 as well as the construction of runway 3 of Soekarno Hatta International Airport, expansion of capacity and facilities of Banyuwangi Airport to become an international airport, and operation of Kertajati Airport which is planned to start operation in June 2018.

Not only developing the airport operational sector, AP II management remains committed to providing excellent service to airport customers. Through the airport digital journey experience program, AP II invites airport customers to be able to enjoy a variety of digital-based services that provide convenience and comfort while at the airport. This is expected to be able to improve airport operational efficiency and have an impact on improving the quality of services so as to create good impressions for airport customers.

President Director of AP II, Muhammad Awaluddin, said, "For the first time, in 2017 airports in AP II penetrated the psychological number of 100 million passengers. We cannot realize this without good collaboration between airports and airlines. President Jokowi even stated that The core of Indonesia's economy in the future is to provide tourism services, and this year, the Ministry of Tourism is pushing for a large program to bring foreign tourists to Indonesia in Foreign Tourist Arrival (FTA), which determines the role of airports and airlines. "

On this occasion, AP II also received full support from the Ministry of Transportation through the Director General of Civil Aviation to develop and improve connectivity at AP II airports and support the Riau Islands Province and West Sumatra Province, and the Tourism Office to promote regional events and attractions which has the potential to increase visits by local tourists and foreigners.

Garuda Indonesia Director of Production, Puji Nur Handayani said "We really appreciate AP II for holding this event where events like this can increase the synergi among airport stakeholders to be able to advance the transportation industry.

The event which will be included in the company's annual routine is certainly expected to continue to improve aircraft movements in every airport managed by AP II. In 2017 aircraft movements have reached 821,000 movements and in 2018 it is targeted to reach 1 million movements or increase by 24% from the previous year.
