Human resources, infrastructure and facilities, and digital retail are the 3 main topics
Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II, the operator of 20 airports in Indonesia, met with a number of world organizations earlier this month.
After meeting with the global aviation regulator, namely the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on November 3, 2022 in Montreal (Canada), AP II on November 5, 2022 held a meeting with Airport Council International (ACI) which is also headquartered in Montreal.
"AP II's meeting with ACI is to explore synergies and collaborations so that AP II airports can always meet global trends that continue to develop in the aviation industry," said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin.
ACI is a 701-member organization operating 1,933 airports in 183 countries.
At this meeting the President Director of AP II Muhammad Awaluddin was immediately greeted by the number one ACI person, namely the Director General of ACI Luis Felipe de Oliveira, who was accompanied by VP of Global Assessments and Training Kevin Caron; Director of Customer Experience and Strategy ASQ Andre Bolduc; ASQ Manager of Customer Experience Solutions Silvana Gomez; and SVP of Programs and Commercial Service Antoine Rostworowski.
In the meeting, AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin said that the most important aspect for an organization is human resources.
"HR development is the most important thing, because it is an important factor in every airport development and construction process. AP II is very focused on improving the capabilities and competencies of HR. For this reason, we are building an Airport Learning Center (ALC) in the Soekarno-Hatta Airport area, which is the first integrated education center in Indonesia to anticipate the development of airport operations and services in the future, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
In terms of human resource development, AP II and ACI programs were also discussed, namely the Airport Management Excellence Program (AMEP) and the Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program (AMPAP) for HR at AP II.
ACI Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira was impressed by AP II's efforts to build modern facilities and various programs that were carried out for human resource development in the airport sector.
"AP II and ACI can collaborate for a training center at the Airport Learning Center," said Luis Felipe de Oliveira.
Airport infrastructure & facilities
AP II and ACI also discussed airport infrastructure and facilities.
Muhammad Awaluddin said that AP II had built infrastructure and facilities, including those equipped with the latest technology, such as Soekarno-Hatta Airport which already has an Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) building for the implementation of Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM); then the Airport Infrastructure Control Center (AICC) to monitor facilities and infrastructure; then the Land Transportation Control Center (LTCC) to monitor public transport operations.
"This infrastructure development is also supported by the development of soft infrastructure or digital infrastructure, including through the iPerform application which is used internally by AP II to monitor operations, commercial and services at the airport, as well as travel applications for public services."
Muhammad Awaluddin said that AP II would involve ACI to encourage the maximum and optimal infrastructure and facilities.
"Experts from ACI will calibrate various infrastructure and facilities at AP II airports, including facilities equipped with the latest technology. The goal is that the infrastructure and facilities can be more optimal and always in accordance with global standards, "said Muhammad Awaluddin.
Later, experts from ACI will also conduct an assessment or feasibility test on the Airport ID program initiated by AP II to support the use of biometric facial recognition and fast track for airplane passengers.
Luis Felipe de Oliveira said ACI has a program called Airport Excellence (APEX). "Experts from ACI will help an airport to operate optimally, always comply with regulations, and comply with standards in the aviation world."
Meanwhile, ACI and AP II also discussed digital retail at airports to encourage non-aeronautical revenues.
“ACI has the ACRIS (Aviation Community Recommended Information Services) platform to enhance collaboration among stakeholders. The purpose of ACRIS is for economic, environmental, aircraft operational aspects, to support touchless facilities that can be used by airplane passengers," said Luis Filipe de Oliveira.
This platform can be connected to the iPerform application which is used to monitor commercial, operational and service aspects.
